AI Storytelling Market Map Q3 2025
We collected all the current AI tools and workflows and put them together in this AI storytelling market map.
Today, we’re excited to publish our first market map of the AI development to production to post production pipeline, essentially the AI storytelling workflow. This market map comes out of the events and community we’ve built for the last two years at Machine Cinema.
In our events, we emphasize three things: Learn, Create, Watch.
Two years ago, we started doing events in our backyards and living rooms where we’d set up a projector and literally watch each other prompt, learning from each others expertise, tinkering, and curiosity. This has snowballed into events we call GenJams and GenBattles. In these events, new and experienced artists, filmmakers, creatives, and storytellers get together to play with the latest AI tools and workflows to figure out how to create short films in less than 4 hrs. It’s thrilling. It’s fun. At first, it’s intimidating but then it becomes a satisfying and cathartic ride where you learned, created and watched your creation in an evening.
Two years on, hundreds of short films and over 45 events later, we’ve gotten to interact with a wide range of AI tools and workflows and put them directly in front of the most curious minds in creative could find in Seoul, Tokyo, Toronto, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and more. That’s why today we’re really excited to bring you a market map born out of our community, and born out of every project that we’ve done together as a community and a collective.
This is also an invitation. An invitation to all of you to contribute to a community market map. Are you a builder or founder of an AI tool or platform and want this to be here? Email me and let me know and I’ll add it. Are you a storyteller using a tool you don’t see here but want to share? Let us know! Or if you just feel like our format doesn’t make sense, we’re all ears. We want to be flexible to how people in the storytelling community are using the tools.
One of the reasons why we love community so much is the simple fact that AI is moving so fast that it’s impossible for any one person to keep up with what the latest tools can do and how to integrate them into their latest workflows. We teach and learn from each other and are building a culture around being radical inclusivity, agnostic to tool, studio, and distributor (loyal first to our community), curiosity, community, livelihood, IRL, humanity, and empowerment. In a world of increasingly more AI, humanity seems like the cure.
For us, this market map is just round 1 of the many services and resources we are hoping to provide for this rapidly growing global creative movement. This map is also just representative of Q3 2025. We’ll update and publish a new one periodically. Follow us or join our community for updates!
Massive thank you to the Machine Cinema members who’ve helped us along the way to do the many events we’ve gotten to do across the world, thanks to our partners who have supported us with credits and sponsorships (many represented in this market map), and thanks to the storyteller in you and the next story you will tell with the help of our robot friends.
P.S. Machine Cinema is currently running a survey to help understand how AI artists/creators are being compensated for their work. This is part of our effort to advocate for AI artists and AI work. If you’re an AI artist making money with AI, please fill out this survey.
I recommend having a little space where prompters/creators can make suggestions and give reviews, tell what the differences are and what's best at what. Also, a short explanation of what each heading is. Maybe a single page Wordpress site that can be updated? Just a thought.
